The Green Street (formerly STOKED)
357 Smithdown Road
10 – 17.00 Mon – Sat

Private view Sat 11th Oct 18-20.00

‘If clothing could speak, what would be revealed’

We all have a significant memory that involves a special item or outfit, through the work the artist is investigating and challenging our perceptions and our relationship with our clothing.

In this new work Caroline is exploring the meaning, memory, experience and value left in our favourite or special items of clothing, and the time, repition and ritual of  the making process.

The work explores not only our personal memories attached to garments but the physicality and intimacy of wearing clothing, and the history  embedded into the garment during the making process.

Quiescence at 11 Wolstenholme PDF Print E-mail

image Quiescence by McCoy Wynne. 7 - 12 October 2008
Viewing Tuesday 7 October 17.30 - 20.30
Photographic exhibition of quiescent places awaiting their planned regeneration. The exhibition is a collaboration of photographers Steve McCoy and Stephanie Wynne

Over the past 5 years they have responded to buildings and environments that are about to undergo a change of use.

The photographs depict the subjects during a period of stasis, after one use has ceased and before the next begins. They are not images of abandonment or dereliction but a document of calm hiatus before the clamour of redevelopment begins. Evidence of former occupations remain but also traces of present occupation, an appropriation of the space by birds and plants.

Emma Tooth 'Concilium Plebis' is at Novas CUC PDF Print E-mail

image The arts page of the October issue of liverpool.com magazine (p62) has incorrect information for Emma Tooth's exhibition 'Concilium Plebis'.

It is actually taking place now (and until 15.11.2008) at Novas CUC in the Aghafar gallery on the 3rd floor with the International Artists show.

This was not the fault of liverpool.com as the venue was changed after their deadline (they are to blame for the other errors on the page though IJ)
