Fancy having a go at bell ringing and weaving? Come along to the Activity Day that accompanies Ringing Banners, public artworks specially created for Liverpool’s Capital of Culture year by Edward Bruce. Just drop in - all ages welcome! Entry and activities FREE
Learn about and bell ringing and weaving through fun activities run by the artist Edward Bruce, with artist and weaver Victoria Haire and bell ringers. Church bell ringers and weaving technicians from John Lewis Partnership/Herbert Parkinson Ltd. have worked with Edward to create a “transcription” of bell ringers’ music woven into banners.
Two 32 metre and two 7 metre banners are currently on display in the dramatic setting of the “Great Space” in Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.
Ringing Banners form part of Liverpool Biennial Independents 2008. The exhibition is supported by Liverpool Culture Company through Churches Together in the Merseyside Region (CTMR), as part of European capital of Culture 2008.
