Liverpool boasts more museums and galleries than anywhere else in the UK outside of London. The city is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known worldwide as the birthplace of The Beatles. You’re never short of things to do in Liverpool.

A personal highlight for me would be the aptly named Museum of Liverpool. Built on the waterfront in one of the most eye-catching buildings in the city, this is the biggest museum build in over 100 years in the UK.  It was opened to the public in 2011 and contains over 6000 objects telling the city’s urban and social history. When looking up thing to do in Liverpool this must be the wildest day out available. Unfortunately this has just closed for the winter, and re-opens next Easter until the end of August, but it’s a must for your next visit to Liverpool. Travel round the 550 acre park from the comfort of your own car and meet some of the 700 inhabitants. For some people, the lion enclosure may be the highlight, and for others it’s the baboons, or perhaps it’s the cute meerkats that’ll be your favourite. Whichever animal you favour, it’s a great day out for all the family.
