If you are a born and bread scouser then your first love is probably going to be the city you grew up in – Liverpool.
Liverpool has so much to offer – famous for its Albert Docks, family-first culture, the beautiful sport of football (you’re either a blue or a red in this city) and of course…The Beatles. Every year Liverpool is attracting and bringing more tourists away from London & Edinburgh and inviting them into this warm and wonderful city. The local council and surrounding businesses are taking full use of the rise in interest in the city and year on year there are cool new exciting events for people to see and explore. If you want to get involved in all the latest events then volunteer as temporary event staff in these up and coming events:
Liverpool International Music Festival
For 20 years the Matthew Street festival was famous for its street music scene, starting with a stand out the Cavern in 1993 and expanding to music stages all over the city until 2013 when it was mysteriously cancelled. Music is a large part of Liverpool culture, so it was only right that another music festival took its place and since the Liverpool International Music Festival was born. The festival is held annually at Sefton Park in July and hosts not only global household names but a plethora of emerging new talent. Volunteer temporary event staff for this event will have to donate one day of their time (out of the two day festival) to receive free entry to the VIP area and food and drinks vouchers for the day they are volunteering.
The Baltic Market
Recently named one of the hippest areas of the UK (beating the trendy Northern Quarter in neighbouring Northern city, Manchester) – The Baltic Market is home to eccentric world street food vans, unique beers and cocktails as well as live music acts from Thursday – Sunday…EVERY WEEK! Sounds cool doesn’t it? Although, the Baltic market is in fact, Baltic. The warmth of the atmosphere will soon heat you up (maybe not enough to take your jacket off mind you).
Temporary Event Staff can look forward to organising the musicians to ensure the make the stage at their designated time slot as well as clear up empty cups and plates left behind by Baltic fanatics. The volunteers can also benefit from food and drinks vouchers when they come to the market in their own time.
Liverpool Street Art Festival
For art lovers – April is your time to explore the glorious city of Liverpool. This festival collaborates with local, national and international street artists to bring urban culture to Merseyside. Volunteers will be there to help guide tourists on the different street art locations as well as give information on the contributing artists. Temporary event staff volunteers will receive free entry to the Walker Art Gallery for 6 months for giving up their weekend to help.
